Tangled Stitches by DebraAnn Salat
Tangled Stitches is the story of my life. I was a precocious 6 year old who spent a lot of time with my grandparents. My grandmother was a very quiet woman who probably taught me how to hand embroider because I was so talkative and the only time I was quiet was when I had an embroidery hoop in my hand. Hand embroidery requires focus and discipline. As a young mother I started looking for a way to make some extra money. I made hand embroidered pillows and hand crocheted christening outfits and sold them in stores on Long Island and craft shows. It wasn’t until I moved to Upstate NY that I found my inner artist and found that people connected to my art. I started making my Tangled Stitch designs which take the many tangled threads of my life and put focus and discipline and loose ends together into beautiful mostly abstract works of art. I love the use of color and shape and flow. I work with my focus and love of color to make one of a kind pieces. I hope you enjoy them.
