“I’ve been experimenting with painting different things but I keep going back to painting a simpler time,” says Millet. “I had an idyllic childhood in upstate NY, filled with friends, family and fun whether it was the Adirondacks, family vacations to the ocean or our own back yard. It has made its way into my art. I like to paint what I remember from that time before we all walked around with our noses in our phones: clothes lines, screen doors, the color of fresh-mown grass, wheelbarrows, red tomatoes, jars of penny candy. It brings me comfort and peace to paint them. It is my hope that you experience it also through my work.”
