Wadsworth’s parents, Gus and Gracie Wadsworth (the “Happy Chefs” of the Bennington Banner), moved to route 313 to retire in 1971 and Susan became fascinated by the rounded hills of their farm there. Those curving, comfortable forms have inspired her pastels for over 40 years. Wadsworth’s pastels are inspired by her experience of being in the landscape, whether it is hiking, skiing or kayaking on the Battenkill. The works will also include her visits to Great Britain, France and Italy. Her characteristically rounded forms and layering of colors “will hopefully inspire others to appreciate local and distant landscapes with fresh eyes,” she says.
