New neighbor!
Hubbard Hall and the Round House Bakery Café announced that, as of April, 2017, Round House Bakery Café will re-open and operate in the storefront of Hubbard Hall at 25 East Main St. in Cambridge, NY. Valley Artisans Market is so excited to have a new neighbor in the adjoining space formerly housed by the Village Store. We are also excited to welcome diners into the market, and also to be able to grab some food for ourselves without leaving the building! Welcome Round House!
Collage journals
Collage artist Sue Williams has made lots of new small journals with hand-sewn bindings and beaded tie closures. The red one shown has a canvas cover and drawing paper pages. The white one has a collage cover and art paper pages. There’s a wonderful assortment in the Market now, at various price points.

Christmas in Cambridge
Valley Artisans Market will be staying open late (until 8 pm) on Friday, Dec. 2 and will have light refreshments available for shoppers, courtesy of the Chamber of Commerce, as part of the Christmas in Cambridge annual event. As an added incentive for shopping local, the Chamber will provide each participating member business with a special Christmas stocking. On Friday night, December 2, spend $5 or more at participating member stores and reach into the stocking for a coupon worth up to $25. Christmas cash is only available on Friday evening from 5-9 p.m. and can only be spent from Friday evening through close of business on Sunday, December 4 in participating businesses. Please support your local businesses! For more information, take a peek at the Chamber’s website.
Open 7 days a week
Starting on Black Friday, Valley Artisans Market will be open seven days a week through New Year’s. We hope to see you for our handmade, one-of-a-kind, artisan-made items – or just come in and browse and get some artistic inspiration. Need something specific that you don’t see? Talk to us! Many of our members are willing to make custom work for you. Hope to see you soon!
Seeking artists!
Valley Artisans Market is always looking for artists to become working members. We are looking for artists in all media but especially those specializing in silversmith jewelry, leather and watercolor. Membership includes working approximately two shifts per month at the market and serving on a committee. (Shifts are 10 am-1:30 pm or 1:30-5 pm.) There are no monthly fees and you receive 75% commission on your sales! Drop by the market to pick up an application or download it here. Would you rather be a consignor? We accept a limited amount of consignors for a 50% commission who do not need to work in the market or serve on a committee. Contact us to find out more!
Columbus Day Weekend at VAM
Drop by Saturday, October 8 (10 am-5 pm) or Sunday, October 9 (11 am- 2:30 pm) and browse, say hello and check out our artisan members while they demonstrate their arts and crafts next door in the space formerly used by The Village Store. During the weekend, Mary Lou Strode will demonstrate painting, Bliss McIntosh will be making corn husk dolls, CJ Little will be carving wood, Sue Williams will be creating her beautiful collages (and you can check out her latest work in the Small Gallery show), and other members will be dropping in. We hope you join us while you are taking in the leaf peeping, on your way to apple picking and enjoying the beautiful Battenkill Valley.
Did you know?
Here’s some tidbits about one of our members, Barbara Sarvis, that you may not know. Barbara is a part-time teaching artist for MassMoCA, helping the education department with developing art curriculums for school age students that attend the museum. “We take students for a tour and then do an art project that corresponds to the exhibition,” she says. She also teaches a course called ArtTalk for OLLIE Life Time Learning in Saratoga Springs where she demonstrates and discusses the principles and elements of design and their psychological implication to the critical analysis of the visual arts. On top of that, she is also finishing the last illustrations of a children’s picture book called The Long Journey. We’re proud to have her as a member! Read more about her in her bio.
New product: bibs
Member Leslie Fuller, a multi-media artist who makes all kinds of quilted items for the Market, has created a new product: bibs. These sweet bibs show her beautiful aesthetic for combining colors, textures and fabrics. Bravo!
